Care for a tooth that needs more

Root canal treatment in Scottsdale

When tissue inside a tooth is inflamed or infected, root canal treatment may help preserve the tooth. Start with an exam at our Scottsdale office and a clear explanation of your options.

The purpose of treatment

Treat the inside. Preserve the tooth.

Root canal therapy treats affected tissue inside a tooth. The internal spaces are cleaned and sealed, then the tooth needs an appropriate restoration. The goal is to address the problem while keeping a tooth that can be restored.

Your care plan

Does your tooth need this treatment?

A damaged or infected tooth may benefit from root canal treatment, but not every toothache has the same cause. An examination and appropriate imaging are needed before recommending care.

For tooth pain or an urgent concern, call for an assessment. Some cases require an endodontist; we will explain a referral if appropriate.

Understand each step.

Your dentist will discuss comfort measures, treatment visits and the final restoration. Ask what to expect during treatment and recovery, and whom to contact with concerns afterward.

Discuss the proposed plan with Mikhail Prokopets, DDS and Ryan Cullinan, DDS. The number of visits depends on the tooth and its needs.

Learn about crowns

Protect the tooth after treatment.

The final restoration may include a dental crown. Follow-up and everyday cleaning help protect the treated tooth. Keep the recommended appointments and follow your dentist’s instructions.

Ask for an estimate and review insurance and financing before proceeding.

A little clarity

Your questions, answered.

Does every toothache need a root canal?

No. Tooth pain can have different causes. An examination is needed before a treatment recommendation can be made. Call for an assessment rather than trying to diagnose the problem online.

Will treatment be completed in one appointment?

The number of visits depends on the tooth and the treatment plan. Ask your dentist about the expected sequence and the final restoration.

Will I need to see an endodontist?

Some teeth or conditions need specialist care. We will discuss whether referral is appropriate after evaluating your case.

What if I need an urgent dental visit?

Call 480-977-1440 and explain that you need urgent dental care. We will discuss availability and the next step. Read about emergency dental visits, and please do not wait for a contact-form reply for an urgent problem.
