Restore and protect

Dental crowns in Scottsdale

Restore strength and function to a damaged tooth. At Arizona Oral Health Center in Scottsdale, your crown plan starts with an exam and a clear discussion of your options.

What a crown can do

Protect a tooth. Restore your smile.

A dental crown covers a tooth to help restore its shape, strength and everyday function. It can support a tooth weakened by damage or a large filling. The aim is a restoration that fits your bite and blends with your smile.

Your visit

When might a crown help?

Your dentist may consider a crown for:

  • A broken or weakened tooth with enough healthy structure to restore.
  • A tooth that needs protection after root canal treatment.
  • An older crown that is damaged, loose or uncomfortable.

An examination helps determine whether a crown, filling or another option fits your needs.

What to expect at your visits.

  1. Assessment: review the tooth, bite and appropriate imaging.
  2. Planning: discuss the proposed restoration, estimate and appointment sequence.
  3. Restoration: prepare and fit the crown, with temporary protection when needed.
  4. Follow-up: check the fit and review everyday care.

Visit timing depends on your tooth and treatment plan.

A little clarity

Your questions, answered.

How is a crown different from a filling?

A filling repairs a portion of a tooth. A crown covers more of the tooth’s outer structure. The amount of healthy tooth remaining helps your dentist decide which option is appropriate.

How many visits will I need?

The number and timing of visits depend on your tooth and the recommended restoration. We will explain your schedule after an exam. Please contact us to discuss availability; same-day treatment is not promised.

What will my crown cost?

Your estimate depends on the tooth, the restoration and any care needed first. Ask for your treatment estimate and a benefits check. Insurance coverage and financing approval vary.

Do you accept my dental insurance?

We participate with almost all insurance plans except AHCCCS. Some HMO plans are accepted. Please call our office to verify your coverage. Accepting insurance does not necessarily mean we are in-network with your plan. We can help you check before treatment.
